Our goal is to provide paddlers options for reducing prices of canoe parts and outfitting so that even the 40-year-old family treasure can be easily repaired and upgraded. For example, Ash is a common wood for canoe gunnels, but very difficult and expensive to source. We are providing an alternate in yellow cedar and clear spruce at a fraction of the cost. Another example is that we make yoke using carbon/Kevlar sleeving. This has been shown to be equally strong but saves over one lb for the yoke alone, added to savings for composite thwarts, handles, yokes and gunnels we can shave five lbs off a typical canoe.
